Lara recuperating

As of last night, the first round of chemo is complete. Now it’s a fun game of symptom management including pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and/or constipation. Like I said…fun. Mostly she’s managing things well. Lots and lots (and lots) of exhaustion is the biggest issue right now. As before, please don’t be offended if she doesn’t respond to your messages for quite some time, if at all. There is simply too much coming her way for her to field everything. Not to mention the techs, nurses, doctors, navigators, social services/chaplains, and other specialists in and out of the room. Sometimes every 5 to 10 minutes.

Speaking of room. The oncologist has cleared her for discharge today! She can go home soon. The hospitalist checked in and thinks she’s good to be released too. The PA from gastroenterology also stopped by and cleared her to go. We have received discharge papers and she’s about to sign. After that, it’s just a matter of cleaning up the port and we’re outta here!

This marks the 15th day of staying in the hospital. She’s ready for a comfortable bed and watching the birds by her window.
